How to Use the Wise Fee Calculator
This calculator shows the total cost of sending money through Wise across 16 sending currencies and 49 receiving currencies. Pick your transfer route, choose how you pay, and select one of three calculation modes to see fees, required send amounts, or net receive amounts.
Selecting Currencies
Choose a From currency and a To currency. In Calculate Fee mode these are searchable comboboxes; in other modes they are dropdown selects. The calculator supports 16 sending currencies and 49 receiving currencies. Each currency shows its ISO code and full name (for example, "USD - US Dollar").
Use the swap button between the currency fields to reverse the transfer direction instantly.
Note: The From and To currencies must be different. The calculator validates this and shows an error if you select the same currency for both.
Choosing a Payment Method
After selecting a sending currency, pick a payment method from the dropdown. The labels change based on your sending currency to match local names:
- Bank Transfer: ACH, SEPA, Faster Payments, PayID, Interac e-Transfer, FAST/PayNow, ELIXIR, or standard bank transfer
- Wire Transfer: Domestic or SWIFT wire, with a $6.11 fixed fee for USD
- Debit Card: Surcharge varies by currency
- Credit Card: Higher surcharge than debit
Each option displays the region-appropriate name so you know exactly which payment method applies, with rates drawn from Wise's fee guide for sending money.
Calculation Modes
The calculator has three tabs. Results are preserved when you switch tabs, so you can compare different modes without re-entering data.
Calculate Fee
Enter the amount you want to send to see the total Wise fee and what the recipient receives.
Example: Sending $1,000 USD to EUR via Bank Transfer (ACH):
- Wise transfer fee: 0.378% of $1,000 = $3.78
- Payment method fee: $0.70
- Total fee: $4.48
- Recipient gets: $995.52
Formula: totalFee = (amount × percentage / 100) + fixed + (amount × methodPercentage / 100) + methodFixed
Amount to Send
Enter the amount you want the recipient to receive after fees. The calculator works out the gross amount you need to send.
Example: You want a recipient to receive exactly $100 via Bank Transfer (ACH) from USD to EUR:
- Required send amount: $101.08209
- Wise fee deducted: $1.0820903
- Recipient receives: $100

You Receive
Enter the amount you are sending to see what remains after Wise deducts its fees.
Example: You send $1,000 from USD to EUR via Bank Transfer (ACH):

Fee Breakdown Table
After each calculation, a detailed breakdown table appears below the result showing:

Precision and Notation Settings
Use the settings bar above the tabs to control how results display:
- Decimal places: Adjust from 0 to 16 decimal places (default is 8)
- Notation: Switch between auto, fixed, exponential, and engineering notation (default is auto)
Your decimal places and notation settings save to your browser automatically. When you return to this calculator, your last chosen format loads without needing to adjust it again.

Wire transfer rates vary by currency, per Wise's wire transfer fee guide. For USD, the variable percentage is lower than bank transfer (0.33% vs 0.55%) but includes a $6.11 fixed fee. For other currencies, wire uses the same rate as bank transfer with no additional fixed fee.

Before sending, compare how different payment methods affect the total cost:

Planning a Large Transfer
Wise offers volume discounts for large transfers. Thresholds vary by currency:

Above these thresholds, the variable percentage fee decreases progressively, per Wise's large transfer pricing. This calculator shows base rates; actual large-transfer pricing may be lower.
Reverse-Calculating for Invoicing
You need a contractor to receive exactly £500:

- Enter 500 as the desired amount
- Choose your currency pair and payment method
- The calculator shows the exact gross amount to send
Checking a Receive Amount
A client says they sent you $2,000 via Wise. Check what you should actually receive:
- Select You Receive
- Enter 2000
- Select the currency pair and payment method they used
- See the net amount after all fees

Tips for Accurate Calculations
- Pick the correct sending currency: Fees depend on the sending currency. The same pair in reverse has different pricing
- Use Bank Transfer for lowest fees: Card payments carry significant surcharges, especially credit cards for USD (6.17%)
- Check the breakdown table: It separates transfer fees from payment method surcharges
- From and To must differ: The calculator validates that you cannot send a currency to itself
- Results are in sending currency: All fee amounts display in the currency you are sending from

This appears when the input contains non-numeric characters. Enter a valid number without currency symbols or commas.
Values must be positive
All amounts must be greater than zero. Enter a positive number.
Fee rates not available for this currency pair
This appears when the selected sending currency is not in the supported list or the pair has no fee data. Ensure your From currency is one of the 16 supported sending currencies.
From and To currencies must be different
You selected the same currency for both fields. Choose a different receiving currency.
Amount too small to cover fees
The fixed fees alone exceed your input amount. Enter a larger value.
Fee percentage must be less than 100% for this calculation
This rare error appears in the Amount to Send mode if the combined fee percentage (Wise rate plus payment method surcharge) is 100% or higher, which would require division by zero.
Results do not match Wise's website
Rates change by currency pair and Wise occasionally updates pricing. This calculator uses the latest verified rates from Wise's official pricing pages and API. If you see a discrepancy, verify your currency pair and payment method selections match how the transfer was actually processed.
